Won 6 Welsh caps 1908-1910. Played in 1909 Grand Slam winning side. British Lion on 1910 tour to South Africa - one of 7 Newport men making trip. Played all 3 tests and stayed to play for Johannesburg.

Enlisted in South African Heavy Artillery regiment 2nd Lieutenant. Killed in action by shellfire at Arras, Somme, northern France 14th December 1917.

Buried at Red Cross Corner Cemetery, Beugny, Nr Arras, France.
