Joined Newport RFC from Blaenavon making debut 16th October 1897 vs Moseley (Won 21 v 3). Scored 16t in 26 matches in first season. Cool confident player who was good in fielding and kicking and a fast elusive runner who sometimes starved his wings. 3 Welsh caps 1899 (E,S,I). Newport's first British Lion and only Welshman to make 1903 South Africa tour when he played all 22 matches and top scored with 59pts. Played for Newport RFC 1897-98 to 1902-03.
