Born 1 Dec 1860, Newport. Started as fullback at 18yrs but switched to forwards. Newport captain 1883/4. Retired from playing in 1885 and refereed England vs Ireland in 1885 also. Chairman of NAC 1894-1949 and served on IRB 1887-1938. President of WRU 1906-1947. Newport?s Chief Fire Officer for 50 yrs. Played for Newport from 1878/9 to 1884/5. MBE. Died 1 May 1949, Newport.
