Played for Newport RFC 1911-12 to 1913-14 and 1919-20 to 1920-21. England international winning 19 caps in total (7 as captain), 3 whilst with Newport, 16 with Bridgwater Albion. Played in 1912 game against South Africa (Won 9 v 3). British Lions tourist.

Subsequently publican of George Inn, Maindee, Newport.
