Attended Duffryn School and played for Newport Schools, Welsh Youth and Wales B squad. Joined Newport RFC from Newport Saracens and made debut in 1983-84. Voted most promising player in 1985. Played in losing 1986 Cup Final against Cardiff (his 126th appearance). Joined Newbridge RFC end of 1991. Son of Alan Perry (Cross Keys RFC).
