"CLUB NOTES"
"This evening it is our very good pleasure to welcome Newport R.F.C. to Pandy Park for this Merit Table encounter."
"Our friends from Rodney Parade defeated Keys' 34-8 on 9th September, the Newport pack played magnificently that night giving their talented backs plenty of opportunities. Fly-half Gary Abrahams stamped his authority on the game and scored 18 points in a grand performance. That game seemed to be the turning point in Newport's season."
"Last seasons game at Pandy Park was a real cracker with Newport clawing back a huge deficit to win a thriller 22-21. We wish the 'Port' every success for the remainder of the season."
"Cross Keys had a good win last Saturday when they saw off a good Cwmbran side 16-6. Cwmbran came to Pandy Park on a winning streak but had to be content with second best in this WRU Cup tie. Keys will now face Pontypridd in the 4th round on Saturday 17th December. This will be the first time for Cross Keys to play 'Ponty' in the cup."
"The United continued their winning run with a good 13-7 win over Treherbert. Mark Cross and skipper Robert Sterry got tries while Neil Haynes kicked a penalty and conversion."
"Cross Keys Under 13's also maintained their winning form defeating a bigger Pencoed side by 38-0. Their record now stands P12 W12 For 466 Against 29. They took their try tally to 99 in this game."
"Under 16's coach Brian Kane would be interested in any young men keen to train with his lads."
"Keys are pleased to announce that former Pontypool star Benny Jones has accepted the position of backs coach. Mr. Jones played for a combined Pontypool/Cross Keys XV v. Australia and New Zealand. He also played for South West Counties v. Australia and dropped the goal that earned his team a 3-3 draw. Supporters please note that the fixture with Lydney has been brought forward from Saturday 24th to Friday 23rd December."
