"CLUB NOTES"
"Before today Bristol and Newport had battled it out exactly 150 times amassing between them 2757 points. It goes without saying that in a long standing (i.e. over 90 years)fixture against a Welsh club the distribution of total points is not exactly in Bristol's favour. In fact Bristol's performance is getting better - up to 1914 for every Bristol point Newport had scored 4.3; from 1919 to 1939 it was 1.4; and since the war it has been 1.2. Actually, in the last ten years Bristol have been in front!!"
"How the names come crowding back for those who have been watching Newport since the war. The elegant Ken Jones, the fiery Roy Burnet and the elusive Trevor Brewer are only three of the 122 internationals produced by the club. It was surely going too far, though, on 30th April 1921 to turn out 15 internationals against Bristol at Rodney Parade!"
"Draws are rare in this fixture, indeed, the 9 - 9 result earlier this season at Newport was the first ever there between these two great clubs. Will today's game be as outstanding?"
