"NOTES"
"A draw with the Army on March 23rd, will give the Royal Navy the Services Championship, which they last held in 1966. They will use our game played against the Army a few weeks ago as a yardstick for their chances in this vital game for them. The Triangular Services Tournament is well under way, with the Army drawing with the R.A.F. and our visitors beating the R.A.F. 17 points to 15 points. All these games are played at Twickenham. On April 6th the Combined Services will play a French Armed Forces XV."
"Last season on this ground we won a good game 13 points to nil. In two weeks time we shall be opposing the R.A.F."
"The controversial game in Dublin last Saturday, settled the championship so the game at Cardiff on the 23rd will give Wales the opportunity to redeem the failure and the same time prevent France from achieving a clean sweep."
"Our victory at Sudbury last Saturday was a much needed tonic. Tonight we blood three newcomers to the 1st XV. The Wales Youth XV captain, scrum-half Alan Evans of Newport Youth, who has also captained the Welsh Secondary Schools, steps right into a senior game direct from Youth football. Warren Lewis and Ray Williams after consistent performances with the United, will be in the back row of the pack. David Cornwall, who needs no introduction, is included at centre-threequarter after having played for Bridgend and Abertillery. With a game against Aberavon next Friday night and three matches the week after next, it is necessary to spread the load over as many players as possible, and at the same time field a good XV."
"We have arranged a game with Paris University to be played on the evening before the Wales v. France game. Our postponed home game with Bridgend has been carried over to next season and will be played on October 30th. Reserved seat holders are reminded that they must apply by March 16th for special reservation for the Memorial Sevens Tournament which will be staged on April 1st. Enclosure tickets 3/6 and Field Tickets 2/6 are now on sale for this event. Bristol, Cardiff and a Monmouthshire XV are our guests for this special occasion. On April 20th, we are guesting at the Hawick Sevens."
"Tomorrow evening a Record Rendezvous will be held in the upstairs lounge of the club and members who attended the two previous evenings have requested this repeat. All members are welcome to this pleasant social musical evening."
