From the match programme:-
"Swansea will receive a warm welcome on their appearance on the Athletic Grounds this evening. The season would have been incomplete without our home fixture against the "All Whites," who earn our gratitude for coming to Newport to-day, to fulfil the fixture which had to be postponed through weather conditions on December 16th."
"Swansea have selected a strong side for the occasion. With their usual flair for producing full-backs, they appear to have unearthed a lad of special quality and promise in 18 year old Terry Davies, whose appearance will be of great interest. Their left wing, H. Phillips, has been on the fringe of International honours this season, and travelled to Paris, as reserve, with the Welsh team on Saturday. Their half-backs, Roy Sutton and Len Davies, are a strong combination, who need no introduction to Newport followers. Always powerful in front, with such forwards as Dai Jones, W. O. Williams, Bryn Evans, L. Blythe and R. C. C. Thomas selected, there is no doubt as to the quality of opposition Swansea will present."
"In the selected Newport side. Ken Jones will return to the wing, and W. Ewan comes in to partner him at right centre. Ewan. who had already made his reputation with the Watsonians, played in Newport's first match this season. Injury and illness have, however, kept him out of the game for long periods through the season, but now, thoroughly fit, his consistent form with the United side has earned him a further trial with the Newport team."
"Away to Gloucester, and on the Devon Tour, during the next two weeks, Newport will be at home to Cross Keys for the last match of the season, on April 28th. In this match (the venue of which has been reversed to Newport), the whole of the proceeds will go to the Cross Keys Club, and Newport Club Members will, therefore, on this occasion have to pay for admission. It had been hoped, on the following Saturday, May 5th. to arrange a Seven-a-Side Tournament at Newport, but difficulties have arisen which has made it impossible to proceed with these arrangements. The Newport Club are, however, actively pursuing Seven-a-Side Rugby, and are leading in efforts which, it is hoped, will lead to an intitial Tournament "in season" in Wales within the next couple of seasons."
"SUPPORTERS CLUB NEWS"
"On Saturday next, large numbers of Supporters will be travelling to Gloucester to give vocal support in what should be one of our most difficult matches."
"Contrary to general belief this is not an all-ticket match, although tickets are available for certain parts of the ground."
"British Railways are running a Football Special, leaving Newport at 1.15 p.m. Arrangements are made for various times of return. Fare 5/9."
"A coach trip will also be arranged and bookings should be made immediately after to-day's game, at the Bowls Pavilion."
"This coach will be staying in Gloucester for the evening, because we are being entertained by the Gloucester Rugby Supporters' Club after the match."
"Members of the Team and Supporters' Club have been invited to a Social Evening at the Transport Club after this evening's match. Any member who wishes to attend can do so and be assured of a good evening's entertainment."

The following article appeared in the match programme for Newport v Pontypridd on 16th November 1991:-
"REMEMBER THIS GAME?"
"NEWPORT DASHED HOPES . . ."
"Newport, who had won 32 and drawn one of their previous 34 matches in the 1950-1 season, faced an exacting task when Swansea visited Rodney Parade for the All Whites arrived determined to avenge the 13-6 defeat they had suffered against Newport at St. Helen's."
"But their hopes of doing so were dashed in the first half when Newport went into a 10-0 lead which they retained right up to the final whistle, despite the valiant efforts of R.C.C. Thomas, Bryn Evans and David Jones to cope with the powerful Newport pack."
"Newport's success was due in no small measure to Bill Ewan, a former Watsonians back, who they tried at centre. The dark-haired Scot who had been a regular in the invincible Newport United team, gave an intelligent display. Not only was he sound in defence, but he saw that his wing, Welsh international Ken Jones, did not suffer from lack of service."
"In fact, within a few minutes of the kick-off, he sent a pass out to Jones, who cleverly drew the Swansea defence towards him and then calmly cross-kicked to Peter Davies. The lanky Newport forward simply had to stretch himself over the line between the posts for a try which Ben Edwards converted."
"Newport's other try was made by Bryn Williams, a neat, compact centre who jinked his way past six Swansea players and passed swiftly to John Lane as Terry Davies, the 18-year-old Swansea full back, was about to tackle him. One stride only was needed and Lane was over the line for a try which Ben Edwards converted with a mighty kick from the touchline 25 yards out."
"Newport, who were captained by Ken Jones, went on to win four of their remaining five matches, and Lane ended the season with 27 tries to his credit. As for Terry Davies, who gave an immaculate display for Swansea, he went on to play for Wales 21 times between 1953 and 1961 and tour Australasia with the British Lions."
