The Birmingham Daily Post of 23rd February 1891 reported:-
"MOSELEY v. NEWPORT.- Played at Newport. Rogers kicked off and England returned. Moseley pressed, and Rogers kicking over the line, Newport conceded a corner. Moseley frequently and vigorously pressed Newport, and play was much in the home territory. Just before half-time Newport got a goal, kicked by England, and the score stood Newport 1 goal 2 minors, Moseley 2v minors. In the second half play went everywhere in favour of Newport, for whom England played with remarkable accuracy. Final score - Newport 3 goals 1 try and 4 minors to Moseley's 2 minors."
