Beddau,   18 November 1989
For an hour it looked as if Beddau were about to chalk up the second biggest upset in cup history. However with their backs firmly to the wall and patience running out, Newport somehow summoned up an almighty effort to outstrip the visitors and run away with the spoils in emphatic fashion. By the end everything they touched turned to gold. For the opening sixty minutes however it was painful to watch as Newport fumbled their way through the motions, losing out in nearly every department. David Waters making his record 538th appearence was the only player who resembled their usual selves.
