Llantrisant,   08 December 1984
Newport comfortably dealt with the challenge of minnows Llantrisant hardly having to raise a sweat in the process. The scoreline of 38-3 underlined their total superiority over the club coached by former Newport favourite Gwilym Treharne. The game was over as a contest by half-time when Newport led 22-0, having almost completely monopolised possession. As their lead stretched, Newport visibly began to wind down, with the result that errors crept into their play with increasing regularity. Llantrisant offered little more than stout tackling. With an abundance of possession there was a glut of points with Mike Lewis helping himself to 18pts.
