Ammanford,   17 December 1983
Impressive Newport recorded the highest cup victory of the day and it was only the compassion of referee Ken Parfitt which prevented them from piling up even more points. Parfitt ended the game 10 mins early but by that time Newport had rattled up 13 tries. Newport were not complaining afterwards as they had already done a good day's work. Newport got the mixture right with their backs emerging from the game with as much credit as the forwards.
