Pontardulais,   16 December 1972
Robin Williams was a star of this 2nd round game, scoring 17 pts, kicking to touch and goal from huge
distances. Pontardulais fought hard throughout, but apart from a few short spells were hardly in the game
due to the Newport pack soon establishing control. Outstanding Lyn Jones won the ball with monotonous
regularity in the line and Newport scrummaging often sent Pontardulais back yards. Newport tries were
scored by Williams, Talbot, Ford and Fuller after a glorious length of the field bout of handling while wing
Teifion Thomas scored an opportunist for the home team.
